Review:

After some general observations referring to the maximum declivity that can be given to salmon passes, the author gives a hydrodynamic study of two kinds of passes with hydraulic brake, a term given to the process tending to moderate the velocity of the water by means of water masses directer in a sense opposite to the current. One of the studied .types is a canal pass, which owing to the energetic action of the brake can surmount very great declivities and the other is a vertical pass o ditch which can be adapted to great hights and works intermittently like a kind of hydraulic, absolutely automatic
