Review:
This work consists of a general part and a monographic part which repots 14 spontaneous and wild aromatic species of the province of Guadalajara (Spain). This province is the most typical in the production of the spike oil: we have paid special attention to the monograph of “Lavandula latifolia Vill.”. The general part refers of the analytic instrumental techniques used to find out the chemical composition of the essential oils and of the criteria which have been followed in the study to identify components. The general parts also contain a chapter with the general physiographic and ecologic data for the province of Guadalajara. In each of 14 monographs, in the first place botanic specie which produces essential oil is described its ecology-habitat and station altitude, soil and climate according to the classification of WALTER-LIETH and its yield, as the prime distillable matter. After this the technology of the obtention of the essential oils is given. An analytic study of this is made which includes the determinations of the organoleptic, physical and chemical characteristics and the identification and the quantitative determination of the components. a last with the most important conclusions of this study.
