Review:

We present the results of a thorough investigation into the nature, possibilities of industrialization and analytical control of three essential oils (essences) of eucalypts: E. macarthuri, which produces two kinds of essences, the normal from leaves and exceptional from bark, and those of E. citriodora. We study, for the first time, the essences of these species introduced and acclimatized in Spain. We have determined the physico-chemical and organoleptic characteristics which are the essence classic analytical methods; natural essences, not divided by gas-liquid chromatography (GLC), Thin layer chromatography (TLC) and infrared spectroscopy (EIR); essences were fractionated; they have been applied to CGL, EIR and CCF fractions; and we have studied the seasonal variation of the composition in monthly distilled samples.
