In the present work it is tried to give the theoretical foundations of some phenomena of physical-chemical nature that take place in the solid-liquid interface. To do this, we begin with a thermodynamic study to calculate the change in free energy, which occurs when a liquid is brought into contact with a solid, and from there the work of wetting and adhesion is deduced.
