Review:

In Spain, the species Pinus pinaster offers in its coastal zone biologic particularities which differ from those of the inland zone owing to the ecologic differences prevailing in both. Rapid growth and high production per ha distinguish the coastal zone. These characters are studies in the first part of the work in which are exposed the values obtained by experiments realized during the years 1934-1947 in a series of plots established in Galicia, and which are given in a yield table up to 25 years where, ordered in 5 classes according to station, are compiled the values referring to yield of the standing timber, volume, hight, diameter and from factor, number of trees and cross section. There are given besides the values of the yield obtained by thinning. The second part deals of the laboratory work effectuated, simultaneously with the silvicultural ones, with P. pinaster wood samples proceeding from the above mentioned plots, determining the density differences in relation to age, fibre length in the different tree-zones. Content of cellulose, pentosanes, resines, lignine and nitrogen. To conclude the author gives a statement of experiments referring to industrial preparation of cellulose
