In the work are exposed the ichthyologic collections of the Section, figuring in first line the general one of Spanish fresh water fish, which is also the most interesting and abundant where are represented the most important species, each with a small map indicating its geographic distribution. Another collection comprises species of estuaries, firths and salt-water lakes, made up by forms of marine facies, species cultivated of old in the fish farm of the “Monastery de Piedra”, and exotic fish.
These systematic collections are followed up by the biologic collection of microscopic preparations of scale, various parts and organs (pharyngeal bones, otoliths, spawn, encephala, etc.).Follows a vocabulary of all the vulgar names of fresh water fish of the different regions of Spain. Finally are mentioned the close season time and other restrictive measures to defend and favour the fisheries, with two diagrams and a synoptic table.
