Review:
The need to unify the existing criteria on the classification of torrential basins is increasingly evident in international contacts on surface hydrology, in order to normalize subsequent actions aimed at correcting the torrential phenomenon. This has implied prior knowledge of the existing and most used classifications in each country, as well as the study of the torrential phenomenon and each of its determining factors.
