Review:

The principal object of this booklet is to present some simple modifications of the classic Hugues system of resination that will offer advantages to the resin industry in countries such as Portugal, France and Spain, applying this classic method in their pine forests. As a consequence of the brief description given of the modern methods of resination, the author studies their possible application in the exploitation of the Spanish pine forests. The study is divided in four parts: i) the practice inconveniences of the Hugues system; ii) the different modifications proposed till now in order to correct the former imperfections; iii) description of the systems of resination proposed to substitute the Hugues method; and iv) a theoretical and practical study of application of a zinc plate water shed, the possibility of applying the cover on the pots and the advantages, the combined use of both could offer to the Spanish rosin industry.
