Review:

The experiments with Guayule in plantations in Spain have been realized, in conformity with the forest principle, on lands unapt for agricultural purposes. The assays of plantation effectuated in the provinces of Huelva and Almeria have shown that “Parthenium argentatum” thrives on the very poor soils of the Atlantic sand dunes as well as under the extremely dry conditions prevailing in the interior of the Spanish Levante. The difficulties related to seeding, nursery work, transplantation and plot tending were less than those stated in other countries. The germinative power of the recollected seed is relatively high. The rubber yield of 4 years seedlings is about 10 % of the dry weight, with a content of 20 % of resin. a normal amount in guayule rubber.
